Career and Technical Education (CTE) DIPLOMA

CTE is a NYS certified Program that allows students to receive a prestigious endorsement on their diploma after meeting specific business education course/sequence requirements. CTE programs seek to help students transition from high school to college and into family-sustaining wage careers. As a result, our students will become more marketable in their college and/or career search.

CTE COURSE SEQUENCE: 5-credit
Career and Technical Education (CTE) sequence in Business & Marketing (CIP code 520201- Business Management & Administration).  To receive the CTE endorsed Regents diploma, students must complete the following (in any order):  

Core (required) courses (3 credits)

  •  Math & Financial Applications (1 credit)
  •  College Management (½ credit)
  •  College Sports & Entertainment Marketing (½ credit)
  •  College Business Law (½ credit)
  •  College Business Economics/Personal Finance (½ credit) 

Choose 2 credits from the following courses: 

  • College Financial Accounting (1 credit)
  • Digital Literacy (½ credit)
  • Skills for Your Future (½ credit)
  • Career and Financial Strategies (1 credit)

To receive the CTE endorsed Regents diploma, students must complete the NYS approved Exam in General Management along with CTE requirements below. We will run review sessions prior to the exam. All review sessions will be at 2:00 in Room 212. Only 1 test date will be offered. Students must be available for this exam.

Students selected for the CTE recognition will have also demonstrated the following characteristics (through graduation) both in the classroom and through extracurricular involvement:

  • Character (evidenced by teachers attesting to this quality- IE: No CDA in any classes, continue to hand in class/homework, etc)
  • Leadership (evidenced by holding committee chair positions, officer/chair or other lead positions in student organizations, sports, civic/community leadership roles, etc.)
  • Service (evidenced by volunteer activities in the school and/or community, etc.)
  • IF A STUDENT fails to continue to meet ALL THE CTE DIPLOMA CRITERIA THROUGH GRADUATION, THE CHS CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) DEPARTMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE THEM.

  • 2025 Review Dates:  TBA @ 2:00PM, Room 212 
  • 2025 Test Date:   TBA @ 2:00PM in Room 212- NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Completed CTE Portfolio (SENIORS ONLY) is due APRIL 18, 2024 by 2PM (no exceptions!)

PLEASE MAKE SURE RESUME OBJECTIVE SAYS YOU WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN THE CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) DIPLOMA AND YOUR COVER LETTER STATES YOU ARE APPLYING FOR CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) DIPLOMA.  MAKE SURE YOU HOLE PUNCH PAPERS & PLACE THEM IN A 3 RING BINDER.
